This trip takes you to a quite
remote part of Guyana most reasonable fit people
should manage it.
It is designed primarily for
the adventurous, interested in nature.
Minimum group size 4
Available May to October.
It’s best to just rest after
this trip, maybe a few days at Shanklands or perhaps
Barbados which is less than 2 hours away by flight.
The Kanuku Mountains in south-western Guyana
rise out of the grasslands and form a backdrop to
the Rupununi savannahs. Their wild sculptured crowns
peaking just below the level where the clouds would
touch the mountain tops.
The range, divided by the Rupununi River, is
noted for it's high diversity of bird and animal
species, with approximately 80% of the known mammal
species of Guyana being recorded.
With little or no human settlement
on the eastern range, the area is still pristine
and is perfect for adventurers to experience the
diversity of the tropical ecosystems.
The extremely rare Black Jaguar
can be found in this area.
